Yusuf Hakeem believes that every child no matter his or her background should be guaranteed a high-quality education. That’s why he will work to improve and support our local public schools. Yusuf will work to ensure that every child can fulfill his or her God-given potential.

Hakeem wants to fight for the complete and full funding of the Basic Education Program (BEP), ensuring that not only will our schools have enough money and resources, but that the schools can focus more on student outcomes instead of budgets.

Testing in Tennessee has overshadowed curricula and has over-burdened teachers and students. Hakeem wants to fix our broken testing system, giving more ownership back to the teachers and districts who best know their own needs.
